I just realized some of my older friends (college friends, etc) haven’t seen me in years–and have never seen Shannon. So here’s a picture of us, taken last year. Yes, we have matching hats, which we get teased about a lot.

I plan to file the dissertation by August 15 (so also a busy time for me) but the second half of August would be a great time to get together :)

You seem well, happier, than you did in general in college, although we weren't as close friends as others. I didn't see you as unhappy when I was in college, I just think you seem happier now. Not sure what to think of that, but I do hope you are quite happy now. :) I also realise that these are just snapshots from 1 instant...

I am. I was observing at New Year's how every year since the awful 2000 has been a steady climb. My life isn't perfect, but I'm much happier than I ever have been.

2008 has been rougher, but there's still have a year to go, and the things I've learned through all this have been worthwhile.
